“It may be off for a long time,” said Dad.

It was time to eat.

They all sat round the table and had supper by candlelight.

How did the children feel？

Dad told them a funny story about a time when he was a little boy.

It made them all laugh.

The children had to use the lamp to go to bed.

The children were so happy that they could not go to sleep.

Chip had an idea.

Chip made a shadow on the wall with his hands.

“Guess what it is,” he said. 

Chip 在墙上做手影。

Can you make a shadow on the wall?

What can you make?

Wilma shone a torch under her chin. 

Wilma 把手电筒放在下巴底下照。

What did she want to do?

The light made her face look scary.

“Whoooh!” she said. “I‟m a monster.” 

灯光使他的脸看上去很吓人。 

她说：呜！我是怪物。

Everyone laughed. 

每个人都笑了。

Wilma looked scarey and funny.

Then Mum came in and said it was time to go to sleep.

然后妈妈走了进来，她说，该睡觉了。

The next morning there was still no power.

So the family spent all day on the beach.

They played lots of games.

第二天早上还是没有电。

“It's late,” said Mum. “It‟s time to go.”

Did the children want to go back home?

No, they didn't.

They wanted to stay a bit longer.

What about the game station, films and the CD player?

They had forgot them.

“Can't we stay a bit longer?” asked Wilf. 

Wilf 问：我们能再呆一会儿吗？

“I've got an idea,” said Dad. 

“Let's build a fire. We could cook supper.” 

爸爸说：我有个主意。

让我们生一堆火，我们可以做晚饭。

“Brilliant!” they all shouted. 

他们都喊了起来：太棒了！

Horray! It must be funny.

“Let's get some driftwood,” said Mum. 

妈妈说：让我们弄一些漂来的柴火。

driftwood means wood that the sea carries up onto land

“I'll go and get food,” said Dad. 

爸爸说：我去拿吃的。

It was getting dark by the time the fire was finished.

篝火堆好了，天黑了下来。 

“Hey Wilf! That looks like a giant bird's nest,” said Mum.

“You light it, not lay an egg in it!” 

妈妈说：嘿，Wilf！那看起来像个巨大的鸟巢。 

你把它点着，不要在里面下蛋了。

孩子们搭的火堆像极了鸟巢，

That looked like a giant bird's nest.

What did birds do in the next.

Yes, lay eggs.

What would the children do with the "giant bird's nest"?

To make fire.

Dad cooked lots of food on the fire.

Then Mum toasted some marshmallows.

爸爸在火上煮了许多食物。

然后妈妈烤了一些棉花糖 marshmallows。 

They all sat and looked at the stars.

他们都坐下看星星。 

“I have a surprise,” said Dad. “Sparklers!” 

爸爸说：我有个惊喜，烟花棒！

Wow, firework!

It might light up the sky.

So beautiful.

“Sorry,” said Dad the next morning. “Still no power.” 

第二天早上，爸爸说：对不起还是没电。 

“We can do without it,” smiled Chip.

Chip 笑着说：没有它（电），我们也可以啊。

“Last night was magic,” said Wilf. 

Wilf 说：昨晚，太神奇了。

They sit around the fire together.

They made fire together.

They cooked together.

They lit up the fireworks together.

Last night was amazing.

“What shall we do tonight?” asked Biff. 

Biff 问：今晚我们要做什么？

That night Wilma had a good idea.

那晚 Wilma 有个好主意。  

“We could play hide and seek,” she said. 

“If you are 'It' you have a torch.” 

她说：我们玩捉迷藏。 

如果你是 “它” 你有只手电筒。

hide and seek was funny.

Do you like playing hide and seek.

And why shoud "it" have a torch?

Because "it" could find some one else by the torch.

Everyone hid around the dark cottage. 

Wilf was “It”. 

He counted to a hundred.

每个人在黑暗别墅的四处藏了起来。

Wilf 是 “它”。 

他数到一百。

Wilf looked in every room.

“Found you, Biff!” he called. 

Biff was hiding behind a big plant.

Wilf 挨个房间找。

Biff 藏在一棵大植物的后面。 

He found Chip lying in the bath. 

Wilma was behind the TV.

Mum was under a bed. 

他发现 Chip 躺在浴缸里的。

Wilma 在电视机后面。

But where was Dad?

Suddenly, the moon came out from behind the clouds.

It lit up the windows.

Could you find Dad now?

A shadow came up.

Dad was hiding behind the curtains.

爸爸藏在窗帘后面。

“That gives me an idea,” thought Wilma.
