damage, hurt, injure, wound如何区分

【说明】damage 的宾语是“物”不是“人”，它的意思是“破坏”，而不是“伤害”。所以，跟这三个词不是一个类型，damage 应跟destroy, ruin 作比较。下面一同解答这些问题。

hurt, wound, injure

这三个词都表示“让人受伤”，但用法不同：

1）hurt 可表示精神上或肉体上的伤害，作不及物动词表示“疼痛”。许多情况下可与injure互换，但injure 是及物动词，hurt 可以及物，可以不及物。如：

He fell and hurt his leg. 他跌倒了，伤了腿。

Her words hurt me. 她的话伤了我的自尊心。

That’ll hurt her feelings. 那会伤她的感情。

My foot still hurts. 我的脚还在痛。

2）wound 表示肉体上的受伤时，主要指战场上受枪弹伤，后跟的宾语是整个人，而不是受伤处的部位。如：

The bullet wounded him in the shoulder. 子弹伤了他的肩膀。

He got wounded in action. 他在战斗中负伤。

hurt的宾语可是人体的一部分。如：

His leg was hurt. (=He was wounded in the leg.) 他的腿受了伤。

3）过去分词wounded 前可加the, the wounded 表示“全部伤员”。wounded 还可以用“two”以上的数词修饰，表示具体数目的伤员。如：

The wounded were removed. 所有的伤员都转移了。

There were twelve wounded in the field hospital. 在这个野战医院有12名伤员。

4）wounded 可作定语，hurt的过去分词则不能。如：the wounded soldiers 伤员

5）injure 一般指意外或事故而造成身心、外貌等受到损害。如：

He was slightly injured in the accident. 他在那次事故中受了轻伤。

destroy, ruin, damage

这三个词的宾语一般都是指“物”。damage 指“损坏”，但不一定全部损坏，而只能使物品的价值或用途方面有所降低，并且还可以重新修好。如：

Much of the furniture was damaged in the fire. 不少家具被火烧坏。

The car was only slightly damaged in the accident. 这辆车在事故中只受到轻微的损坏。

It was a scandal that damaged a lot of reputations. 就是一件丑闻毁了许多人的名声。

destroy 表示“彻底破坏”，不能或很难修复，与汉语中的“毁灭”相近。如：

The earthquake destroyed almost the entire city. 那次地震几乎毁灭整个城市。

The enemy destroyed the bridge after crossing it. 敌人过桥后就把它毁了。

destroy 有时也可用于比喻意义，动作对象是抽象名词。如：

All his hopes were destroyed. 他的全部希望破灭了。

ruin 也可指破坏严重以致不能修复，但这种破坏不是“毁灭”，只是使该物的价值或用途发生问题。如：

He knocked over a bottle of ink and ruined the tablecloth. 他打翻了墨水，把桌布弄污了。

Moths ruin good woolen clothes by eating holes in them. 蛾子在毛料衣服上咬洞而毁坏衣服。

ruin 也可用于借喻，宾语可以是抽象意义的名词。如：

If you don’t mend your ways, you’ll ruin your future. 如果你不改邪归正，就会毁掉你的前程。
