What's this story about?

Biff and Chip made a scarecrow. The magic made the scarecrow alive. Biff, Chip and the scarecrow were took to a field. There they went to a barn dance held for scarecrows. What would Biff and Chip see? Let's begin today's story.

Biff和Chip做了一个稻草人,魔法让稻草人活过来了,又将他们带到了一片田野中。在那里他们去参加了稻草人们的谷仓舞会,他们会看到什么呢?

Talk together

Look at the title and cover. What is a scarecrow? Explain that the word scarecrow is made up of two words.

Biff and Chip had a little garden.

Biff和Chip有个小花园,

They planted seeds and they put in plants.

他们撒了种子、栽了植物。

The birds liked the garden.

鸟儿们喜欢花园。

They ate the seeds and pecked the plants.

它们吃掉种子,又去啄植物。

Biff was cross.

Biff很生气。

“Look at the birds,"she said.

“看这些鸟啊,” 她说。

“Go away! Go away !”

“走开! 快走开!”

Biff and Chip had an idea.

Biff和Chip想到一个主意。

"Let's make a scarecrow,"they said.

“我们做个稻草人吧。” 他们说。

“What a good idea,"said Mum.

“好主意!” 妈妈说。

They got some old clothes and made the scarecrow's body.

他们找来旧衣服做了稻草人的身体。

Mum helped them.

妈妈也来帮忙。

Biff got a bag.

Biff找来一个袋子。

Chip painted a face on it.

Chip在袋子上画了稻草人的脸。

Mum made the scarecrow's hair.

妈妈做稻草人的头发。

Chip wanted the scarecrow to be a boy.

Chip希望稻草人是个男孩,

He called it Fred.

他给稻草人取名Fred。

Biff wanted it to be a girl.

Biff希望稻草人是个女孩。

“All scarecrows are boys," said Chip.

“稻草人都是男的。”Chip 说。

The key began to glow.

这时魔法钥匙亮了。

The magic took them inside the little house.

魔法将他们带进小房子。

The magic took them to a field.

他们来到了一片田野。

The scarecrow came to life.

稻草人活起来了,

“I'm alive!" called Fred.

“我有生命了!” Fred 喊道。

Fred jumped in the air.

Fred跳了起来。

“It's magic!"he called.

“魔法起作用了 !” 他喊道。

There were some scarecrows in the lane.

小路上走来几个稻草人,

Fred waved at them.

Fred冲他们挥手。

Fred ran up to the scarecrows.

Fred向那些稻草人跑去。

"Hello!" he called. "Where are you going?"

“你们好!” 他喊道。“你们要去哪里?”

A scarecrow pointed to a barn.

一个稻草人指着谷仓说:

"We're going to the barn dance.

“我们要去参加谷仓舞会。

You can come too."

你也一起来吧。”

Then the scarecrows looked at Biff and Chip.

那群稻草人看了看Biff和Chip说:

“Oh dear! You can't come."

“哦,天啊,你们不能来。”

Biff and Chip weren't scarecrows.

Biff和Chip不是稻草人,

They couldn't go to the dance but Fred had an idea.

所以不能参加舞会,但是Fred想到一个主意。

Fred made Biff and Chip into scarecrows.

Fred把 Biff和Chip打扮成稻草人。

They went to the dance.

他们一起出发了。

The band began to play.

乐队开始演奏。

"Come on,"called Fred."Let's dance."

“来吧,” Fred喊道,“我们跳舞吧。”

Biff began to dance with the scarecrows.

Biff去和稻草人们跳舞。

"This is fun," called Chip.

“真有趣 !” Chip 说。

Biff danced with Fred.

Biff和Fred跳舞。

Chip danced with Biff.

Chip和Biff跳舞。

They all danced with the scarecrows,

他们和稻草人们一起跳舞。

“See!"said Biff.

“ 看到了吧!” Biff 说。

“There are girl scarecrows. I told you so.”

“我就说有女的稻草人吧!”

Suddenly, the key glowed.

突然,魔法钥匙亮了。

It was time to go home.

该回家了。

“Oh no!"said Fred.

“哦,不!” Fred 说。

The magic took them home.

魔法把他们带回了家。

Biff and Chip had an idea.

Biff和Chip想到一个主意。

"I didn't know there were girl scarecrows,"said Mum.

“我不知道还有女的稻草人呢。” 妈妈说。

"Well, there are,"said Chip.

“当然有了。” Chip 说。
