Abstract: India, which is a powerful nation in pharmaceutical industry, possesses ingredients and generic drugs as core competence. Many pharmaceutical companies with great international influence was cultivated in the process. As a result, India can become the model for developing country. In this paper, Dr Reddy"s Laboratories, the second biggest pharmaceutical companies in India, was taken as the object of study. The pathway of transformation and upgrading of Dr Reddy"s Labs, including key link such as Common API, characteristic API, generic drug and novel drug was studied, so as to summarize the strategy and experience of transformation and upgrading. Ultimately, combining our actual condition, to provide a reference for improving the quality of generic drugs, as well as promoting transformation and upgrading of pharmaceutical industry is essential and necessary.
